Married people need not be separated at death. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches that a man and a woman may be sealed for time and all eternity in one of their holy temples around the world.

Words of Jesus, Matthew 22:30 "For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in Heaven." Words of Jesus=Christian concept.
He was answering people who were trying to trip Him up with a question about woman married to several men over her life - who would she be married to in Heaven? He said they were ignorant. People wouldn't be married in Heaven.

Whether they die at the same time or at separate times, the death of one spouse (or both, obviously) ends the marriage. There is no marriage in heaven. Jesus stated that explicitly. And the marriage vows specifically state the time period during which the vows are in effect - "until death do us part".

It would seem from the scriptural evidence that believers will no longer be in a married state in the after life. Jesus said, "At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven" (Mat 22:30).

Well, it's a christian and secular concept. most religions do say marriage lasts until death. Mine doesn't, under the right authority, Marriage can last well after death. "For Time and Eternity" I must admit, If marriage isn't allowed after this life then what's the point?

I am sure that if both were Christians (redeemed by the blood of the lamb) they would both be in heaven. Only the Lord would know where they go from there. They would be sister & brother and not married though in heaven.

Well, my brother is a Mormon, and he and his wife were "bonded"... they use the verse in the Bible that says whatsoever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
They believe that by getting "bonded" you can be married to that person after death in heaven.
My own beliefs when I was Christian were vague regarding heaven. Clouds, light, shiny happy people holding hands... maybe marriage, maybe not.

The only ones who keep marriage beyond the grave that I know of are the Mormons. And they have to be married at the main Temple for it to hold. Not sure about the eastern religions.

Upon death the game is over and we return home to our spirit existence, if you ask me. Death do us part is pretty standard across the board I think, though it is just an out if you want it, I think. I am sure there are souls who have been together for multiple lifetimes.
Peace!
