I've been friends with a dude since last year. We met during 6th grade math last year (I was in 5th grade last year so was he) because I had to sit near him. So we hang out all the time with my other galfriend. Well, we tease him about being w/ other people (long story) and we said we would stop only if he'd tell us who he liked. He said no one but me and my dudette friend think he likes me or her (we don't want him 2 like us) because he sits next to me at breakfast and lunch and he helps me alot. Is this a friend? Or more? Believe me don't tell me I am young ok? I had gone through puberty and I got my period. So shut up about I'm too young and this isn't love it is crushes. I could have a boyfriend if I wanna and I am gonna have my next dance on FEB!! I AM NOT YOUNG!!

Ok, first of all, it's generally not a good idea to start arguing about your age before anyone has brought it up. There are plenty of middle-schoolers that come on here for advise, and as an adult, I think that it's better that you are at least asking people for advice than trying to figure it all out on your own -- that's tough!
Anyways, to your question... Boys don't tend to mature nearly as early as girls do in middle school. Many guys aren't interested at all in having a girlfriend until later -- some not until high school -- so, it could be that this boy is honestly not interested at all.
That being said, the only way to find out for sure is to ask him. With a dance coming up, it would be extremely appropriate for you to ask him to go with you. If he says no, then you know that he isn't ready for a girlfriend yet. If he says yes, then go ahead and go with him and enjoy yourself.

well first off guys ur age (1 yr higher doesnt make a diff) arent even think bout gurls now beleive me and second of all just becasue u got your period doestn mean your suddenly older and wiser. ur just a kid and this are just crushes. i know what im talkin bout im in high school. and i have this guy friend and i hug him at the end of the every day and he doesnt like me like that. (i asked him out already)

your in 6th grade you are too young to be thinking about that stuff and probably havent hit puberty yet but still thats too early to worry about other people you have your whole life left to worry about that
