Temple were the only word aside from
Synagogue that the Buddhist, The Jews and the very early Christians used. The word "Church, Chapel and Basilica" was later created by the Christian religion so that they will not be mistaken for the Temple or Synagogue of the Jewish Faith. In the same manner as the Muslims use the word Mosque to make a distinction.

The Bible never speaks of temples where the Christians went to worship. They worshipped in large homes. The only temple they went to was the Jewish temple in Jerusalem, where they publicly preached the Gospel (There was only one Jewish temple, by the way. A second temple would have been considered to be an abomination).

Their is an extensive interview where the bishop asks various questions to wither or not you can hold a temple recommend. Some questions are do you smoke or drink alcohol or do any drugs. and some moral questions. And a bund of question regarding the faith of that person.

The holy spirit dwells within you, which is the temple. Jesus spoke of a time when it didn't matter where we worshipped b/c God was seeking those who worshipped in spirit and truth. John 4:23-24

Those were JEWISH temples, and they worshiped at the same time as the Jews, in the same temples, sitting right along side the Jews. You see, they were Sabbath keepers also.

My church still has the traditions of the Temple worship. It is the Eastern Orthodox Church. Our Apostles did worship in The Temple in Jerusalem, until A.D. 77. We still have the idea of Holy area. An Angel of God guards our Altar. We still have an Altar. We still have the sacraments.

well.. before Jesus' time, they did go to temples and alters. But since Jesus came and paid for our sins with His blood, there's no need for sacrifices anymore. So now we go to churches. and really.. we don't need to go to a church. we don't even need that. it's just a building. The Church, is the body of Christ.. it's, the body of believers. Everyone that believes on Christ for their salvation.. that's the "Church". Hope this helps. Praise the Lord. -Erik.
