I recently heard a presentation given by a philosopher who stated that evil was generally something VERY cunning and in most cases more powerful than good. He stated that the reason for this is that evil is not bound by any rules or conventions and only has its "goal" in mind. Godly or "good" people are bound by a set of rules like the Ten Commandments that restricts what they can do. Evil has no such restrictions. In a fight between good and evil, the philosopher likened it to a boxing match where "good" had one hand tied behind its back.

But to carry that analogy a little further, what stops one arm of evil from pummeling itself if it is not bound by any rules? It seems like if evil can gain an advantage toward that 'goal' by turning on itself it will take that opportunity. Rules don't just serve to restrict - they have a positive value that is also empowering.

In no arena would evil ever be more 'powerful' than good. God has given us all free-will. We can choose either good or evil. The problem is that although there seems to be evil running rampant these days, it is just a 'reaping'(if you will)of what has been put out there. The speaker did make some true points but the meat of what he said is wrong. Evil is not more powerful than good. God is still God. Because He has given us free will, He does not come in and intervene in our choices. If we choose good, good will follow and vice versa. May God Bless

If evil is so powerful, then how come the devil and his angels got thrown out of heaven, and how come they can not leave here and go where they wish? Why are they bound to this earth? Why could the disciples, who had not had the baptism of the Holy Ghost yet, cast out evil spirits, in the name of Jesus? It does not sound like evil is so powerful to me!

A very true statement, evil uses every device in its arsenal to win the fight. However, you underestimate the power of good. God doesn't need any hands to win. You present it as an even fight, but it isn't, that is why Satan wants to try and cheat.

Evil is simply a force, like good is a force. If life is good, then evil is the opposite of life - antilife. Since the universe contains life, it appears that good is slightly ahead of the game at this point.

A difference from equilibrium.

Your philosopher friend was only playing with words. In those terms, Good will always triumph over Evil. Creativity, love, joy. Who can resist? Who can come against?
