The menstrul cycle averages 28 days from the start of one menses to the start of the next. Some women vary and can be on a 26 or 30 day cycle. The time of ovulation is between 10 and 18 days after the stare of menses. 2 weeks after menses is your most fertile period. If you don't want a pregnancy always use birth control and if you don't want stds make your partner use a condom every time.

NO
Not everyone has a 28-day cycle. Not everyone fits within 26 and 30 days. Mine is THIRTY-FIVE days and that is normal too.
Ovulation is when your body releases an egg from the ovaries. After this egg is released it can be fertilized, which is how pregnancy begins.
It is NOT TRUE that you ovulate 14 days after your period, or 14 days before your period, or exactly between periods, or ANY of those things. If it worked for someone, that's great, but really they just got lucky.
If you're TRYING to get pregnant, you try to have sex close to ovulation. But if you're trying to stay not pregnant, that won't work as a method of birth control. Sperm can survive in the body a few days after sex, and might fertilize the egg when it is released. The egg doesn't deteriorate for a few days after its released, so any sperm from having sex several days after ovulation might also fertilize the already-present egg.
To determine when YOU ovulate, you have to use an OPK along with either observing cervical mucus or charting your basal body temperature. Google those terms for more info, because if you're just hearing that you're only able to get pregnant if you ovulate, you're not old enough or educated enough to be having sex. Read as many websites as you can find about women's reproductive cycles and how they work.

It is different for every person. It sounds gross but if you really want to know how to tell when you can get pregnant reach on up there and touch your cervix. When you are on your period it will be closed and low, when you are getting ready to ovulate it will be high and you might not be able to reach it. This is the best time to have sex and one day after if you are trying to get pregnant. If not this is the time to not have sex. Then the moment you ovulate it will snap shut and go back down and stay that way until your next period. It looks something like this _ -- _ i don't know if that makes any sense but I have tried everything and this works best for me I chart it all religiously. Good luck and I hope that helped.

Anytime the woman is wet inside her vaginal walls, it is a good time to get pregnant. A woman can get pregnant during her period as well. There is a window where she cannot get pregnant, but the best bet is to use a condom and birth control foam or a patch or whatever. Be safe.
