Hmm..are you planning on playing 'dirty'?
Is it fair, unless, as a previous answerer wrote, you know for a fact that your opponent/s play 'dirty' or you're out-numbered?
Why don't you go to a martial arts school (of your choice) and learn 'how' to fight?

I don't think a sovereign ring is the difference between losing and winning a fight, that's down to the ability of those involved and a bit of luck. Although the recipient's face may take longer to heal as its probably more likely to break the skin.

Inside a good pair of gloves a heavy ring can be an advantage.
The leather adds enogh padding to keep his face from ripping to shreds, and secures the ring from rolling when you nip chin bone.
A good pair of 8oz saps work even better...Sold at police-supply stores (and security-item websites), SAPs have a filling of powdered lead in small pouches across the knuckes.
They weigh less than good boxing gloves and fit very well, but your chances of landing solid blows with a sap instead of a single ring are ten time better...and getting hit with a sap is very similar to a body-hammer...That's why US cops use them.
My first fight with a "loaded" ring left us both with equal damage; The ring spun so many times that my hand was useless for a week...but my first use of a sap left the kid short 14 teeth in less than 6 minutes, and my hands didn't even swell.
*Note: Relying on a load (a sneaky advantage) could easily backfire, and could very likely result in serious criminal charges...A load such as a ring or saps is a last-resort option when out-sized, out-numbered, or facing a suspected dirty-fighter who may also be loaded.

I've been hit with one, it left a bit of a cut on me but i wouldn't say it would help that much, maybe below the eye, but i wouldn't say it would be that good, you would hurt your hand and it could spin, and in the case where i got hit with it, it might make him madder and he'll end up blitzing you into next week.

yes they would help in fights. as long as the punch landed. from what i've seen in the past though, pikey twats can't hit as well as they mouth. so the sovereigns play the game unused. wallah. and by wallah i mean "cook me breakfast ya pikey ****". i'm hungry.
