i have a female cocketiel and i was woundering does anyone know what i should get her for christmas...shes my pride and joy...thanx

All birds LOVE millet. It's like Candy to them and comes cheaply in stalks. just clip it to the cage or just stick it in, she'll love it! you can also buy her a few new toys, mix them up with the old ones, and rearrange the toys in the cage. when you do that, it's like treating her to a trip to a whole new play park! I also recommend a type of woven ribbon of palm like stuff, it would be with the rest of the toys in the store. it is cheap, and there's a lot of it, just put some more in the cage every now and then, they love to chew on it. if you're looking to give her more companionship, but don't want eggs, get her a 'pet' parakeet. really. get a hand tamed one (I'm assuming yours is) or tame it yourself. parakeets aren't very expensive, and neither are their small cages. keep them separate and gradually introduce them to each other. very gradually. A trick I used was to put them both on my lap, and cover us all up under a blanket. in the dark they were much calmer, and i could watch them. if you work at it, they will get to be friends and can share the same cage. mine even helped my cockatiel get at the pinfeathers on his head! Get her a new cage with new toys or get her a friend(recommended). Dont just make her live her life without reproducing or having a mate there is no point of life then. Get her a male(husband) lol so that she can live a happy life with her husband and expereince it. If you want them to have kids, get a nest box (male should be present) .
