Put an ad in the community newspaper. Hang up flyers in grocery stores. Ask your mom if she knows anyone at work that might need a babysitter sometimes.

The age depends on the state you live in.
I would take a few classes like first aid and some places offer babysitting classes.
Then I would put a ad in a newspaper for both you and your friend and at local grocery stores.
I would hire a 14 year old babysitter if she had a CPR class and/or a babysitting class with some or little experience.
Good luck!
One more thing, you can make more money and get clients if you take some classes.

Fist of all you have to have experience before you babysitt. But try to take a babysitting course so that you are fully prepared. I thought i knew everything about babysitting until i took that course. Its really good. For the wage, if the child or children you are babysitting is over 1, then get 5$ per hour. If its a baby under the age of 1, ask for 10$ per hour. Since the baby is way more work. You have to feed it, change it, play wiht it, and put it to bed. It also depends on the age of the child or children. They might like different stuff, so you have to coordinate around a little bit. Bring a fun movie for all ages, coloring books, barbies for girls and toy trucks for boys. Bring an extra pair of clothing just in case. Make sure you ask how to use thier oven, stove, and microwave. I thought i knew how to wokr the microwave, so i put a piece of pizza in the micr. for 5 min. after 1 min. there was smoke everyware. If this ever happends to you, open all of the windows IMMIDEATLEY!! Next call your mom to help you. Or if yo know what to do, do it. If you have a problem, call your mom first, its more likly that she is available. If not call the parent.
Hope i Helped.

First of all DONT go around to everybody telling people that your a babysitter and offer your services at the start of your babysitting buisness. Start off by asking auntys, uncles and friends of the family that have kids and start off that way that means you get a little bit of practise in. Also tell them to recommend you for babysitting if they think you did a really good job.

As a parent, it is reassuring to find a babysitter that has taken a babysitting course that is offered through our local community center.
We found a new babysitter just today through our church - great place to get your name out. Let your neighbors know that you are ready to babysit. Our health club also has a large binder of babysitters in our area - from your age on up.
Good luck!

Most towns/cities offer babysitting courses, I took one sponsered by a church once and they did CPR and all that. It's something you REALLY should look into as a lot of parents are really hestitant to allow someone (especially someone so young) babysit their kids.

an easy and fun idea is to make Pb&J or turkey if the kids have allergies and have the kids use large cookie cutters to cut there sandwiches into fun edible shapes. My kids eat this one up! Another idea is to go to the store, purchase a pillsbury dough, spaghettie sauce and grated cheese, have the kids roll the dough into flat round "mini" pizza doughs and proceed from there...the kids really will eat anything that they can create themselves. To get them to eat some veggies try baby carrots with dressing, or celery with PB and raisins on top (ant on a stick). Hope this helps!

i'm a babysitter also, and soon to turn 13...
i wouldn't put your ad in the newspaper although...
i live in a neighborhood of little ones, so i just pass out a flyer...
and i know everyone in the neighborhood.
the newspaper might not be safe...
just my 2 cents
