I would never consider a breeder who sold puppies before 8 weeks old. Puppies can be on solid food at 6 weeks, but the mental/social development is very important that they receive between the 6th and 8th week..
they need the interaction with their littermates, and their mother's discipline and training to be well balanced pups and ready for a new home...

A puppy should be at least 6 weeks before you sell it, but most people like to wait until they are 8 weeks old.

8 weeks old! You will have to check the different state laws on this. My pups get first vaccines at 6 weeks and second at 8 weeks. They are just not ready to go before 8 weeks. After they are weaned from their mother, they need the extra time of socialization with their littermates. If you are buying a pup that needs to be shipped to you, the airlines will not let a puppy be shipped until 8 weeks of age. Please do not get a 6 week old pup.

At a minimum of 6 weeks. At 8 weeks they should begin their puppy shots. They can start puppy shots @ 6 weeks but it isn't as effective as if started @ 8 weeks. They are still protected by their mothers antibodies until about 8 weeks old.

A pup should never be sold before at least 8 weeks old.Pups learn alot of their social behaviour from being around mom and the litter mates.Several states have passed laws, and several more have them pending, that make it illegal to sell a pup before 8 weeks of age. Some of the breeders on the Labrador board I frequent, will not sell their pups till 10 weeks of age.

8 weeks minimum. 9 weeks is ideal. But some breeders of smaller dogs or very large dogs will not release the puppies until 10-12 weeks for their own reasons. 6 weeks is way too young. 7 weeks is pushing your luck.

A pup can safely leave it's mother as soon as it can eat on it's own, as early as 4 weeks. However, the longer the pup stays w/ it's mom and siblings, the better it learns how to thrive in a "family" whether people family or dogs, it has to learn that someone is boss and it has an order, or placement. Leaving pups w/ mom until 7-8 weeks is probably decent. But anywhere from 4-12 weeks.

Puppies can be bought/sold at 6 weeks, but they may have a hard time being seperated from their mothers. 8 weeks is good, because they can get their shots and eat by them selves. I would say, go for 8 weeks. Hope I helped!!!

According to Dr. Stanley Coren, a dog expert, between 8 to 12 weeks is best. Before 8 weeks they have not been properly socialized with other dogs and have not yet learned not to nip and after 12 weeks they will have a harder time leaving thier siblings.

most breeders sell at 6 weeks, thats minimum, but the very best is to wait until they are at least 8 weeks, have been started on their shots, & have established eating solid foods, that way there should be no problems taking them away from their mother
