wouldn't lust be sexual temptation?

I would view "sexual temptation" as more of a passive thing. Meaning that a guy could be walking along and a woman dressed seductively walking by him may trigger a sexual desire. In other words, he did not initiate the sexual desire...it was triggered by the hottie walking by. "Lust" on the other hand is when a guy is out seeking an encounter, or when he purposely places himself in an environment that he knows will trigger sexual desires. In other words, he is doing the initiating. Another way to put it would be that he looks upon a woman with sexual intent, where as the "sexual temptation" was without intent. Perhaps I'm trying to say that "lust" is premeditated and "sexual temptation" is not. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Everyone who is human goes through temptation of some sort all the time. The question is whether they give into it or not. When you give into temptation, especially of the sexual kind, it is called lust and is a sin. Lust is equated with mental adultery by Jesus, because you have already given in to temptation. Usually it is only one step away from the real thing.

Lust is how you respond (or not) to sexual temptation. Temptation is external to you (a naked woman walking by, a naughty word, porn). Lust is internall and involves letting yourself dwell on those things.

Lust is something you opt for even even though if this is not provided. Temptation is something it is available and often provided as incentive for something else. they're diverse interior the honor that lust may well be without the skill to acquire it.

Jesus was tempted he did not or ever sin.

Jesus said if you lust in your heart you commit adultery. So lusting is going over it in your mind, yearning for it. Temptation is when you see it then turn away...or if you lust after it then it's sin.

Nothing wrong with being tempted. Even Jesus was tempted by Satan the Devil and offered ALL THE KINGDOMS OF THE WORLD... for ONE act of worship.
Of course, Jesus refused.
So by using Jesus as an example, we CAN be tempted. Its what we do then that can get us into trouble.
