By reform I mean enforcing the same laws as Mexico has.
Why or why not?

I wish they would just enforce the laws we have.

Personally, I'd vote for a candidate who promised to strictly enforce the laws already on the books regarding immigration, as well as one who would get the outdated "anchor baby" law removed from the books. I don't care about "major immigration reform," because that would just be another big stall tactic - I would like to see someone take initiative and strictly enforce the current immigration laws!

It would be very interesting to call Mexico's bluff as to their outrage over US immigration policies toward their nationals. Propose a bi-lateral immigration policy that is essentially equal. Try being an American moving to Mexico and buying property or establishing a business and see how much friendly assistance you will get. Then watch them squirm when the open borders philosophy comes back at them.

Maybe, as long as he is also proposing major jobs initiatives.

I think the majority of Americans problems and worries are going to be based on employment within the next 2 years. And if we're smart a lot of these other decisive issues will fall by the wayside.

it is not the no. 1 issue at this point. might seem like it. but Iraq and terrorism and the usual meat and potato items will be in the forefront. after that will be health care and then immigration. my son is a journeyman electrician fresh of the marines and then a trade school. he is surrounded in Dallas by illegal Mexican journeyman electricians who drive down salaries. do you think that is good for America. do you think that improves patriotism and a love for the proverbial "melting pot?" .

By a overwhelming majority!!!!
Americans are sick and tired of the rhetoric and want action.

Let's run Col. Al Rodriguez, founder of "you don't speak for me"

The new group You Don't Speak for Me! formed when Col. Al Rodriguez became fed up watching media coverage of the mass protests of April. "Their leaders were saying it was a march for immigrant rights and a Latino/Hispanic movement," says Rodriguez. "I thought to myself, 'Hey, those are illegal aliens, not immigrants!'" Col. Rodriguez began speaking out to others saying, "I'm of Hispanic ancestry and those people are acting like they speak for me. Well, you don't speak for me!"

Col. Rodriguez began asking others to help him reach more people who felt the same way and You Don't Speak for Me! formed from this loose coalition of individuals. It is a group of concerned Americans of Hispanic/Latino heritage, some first or second generation, others recent legal immigrants, who believe illegal immigration harms America and a guest worker amnesty will do the same.

I think he/she would have a good chance. So many states are being are being over run with illegal imigrants, that it is draining their economy. This will soon result in tax increases, which will be paid by the legal citizens. Hopefully, that will be the incentive to get those who don't bother to vote, to get off theirr butts.
