just want to see which cars are expensive to insure and which cars are cheaper. I just want a list like highest to lowest. I don't need specific rates.

Essentially no, there are way too many variables from company to company, state to state and so on. Some insurance companies offer comparable quotes on line but those are not always accurate since some insurance companies constantly change there rates. Even as an insurance agent our comparative rater software has a hard time keeping up with changes we have to update it daily, I’ve even seen updates come in a couple of times a day.

Like the others have said it’s best to call around a bit, make sure you give accurate information to the agent. If you use on line companies be aware that the on line quote you get could be off too. It’s best to talk with a live person especially if you have a few dings in your driving record credit and so on. An agent can also help you with finding coverage’s that best suit your needs.

Good luck and happy hunting.

A lot of the on line insurance co progressive, geico, esurance all offer free quotes. Insurance rates on more information than just your car... it rates on age, driving history location you live in and so on. All of the on line insurance companies that give free quotes allow you to come back and update your quote with as many vehicles as you would like... Unfortunately this is the only way!! Something to keep in mind though is cars with more safety features, that are not high performance often have the best ratings, such as a 4 door sedan as a opposed to a sports car. Good luck with your new car and insurance!!

Not for every car and every company. That's just not even possible. You'd have to shop individual carriers to see what they will quote you. Don't trust Progressive's quote of other carriers, because they have been wrong before when giving out quotes from other companies.

That would be terribly time consuming, because you need the make and model and sometimes they want the VIN.

Call your auto insurance company and ask about safety ratings on various cars.
