I joined the Navy like hmmm 10 years ago (been out for 6) But bootcamp wasss soo easy. We marched around, cleaned alot , folded lots of uniforms, Just try not to fall asleep in class cause the petty officers would hit your desk and make you stand at the back lol. The PRTs are soo easy a mile and a half lol its a joke ... Also you won't get much sleep so take advantage for sleep when you can. Depending if you go to church or not on sundays you'll have like I belive 5 hrs or so to write letters or catch up on laundry, ironing or folding your uniforms. I slept lol... We had the watches looking out for us, they would whistle if a petty officer, chief or officer was coming lol. Pretty much a big bore. When you leave bootcamp its pretty easy but when your a booter you'll get stuck with really crappy jobs lol REALLY crappy. Depending where you are stationed it will either be good or bad. Oh when i went in i didnt have to go threw the gas chamber yay... Due to winter i belive. I went to boot camp from December 2 1996- February 1997. Good luck to ya. Oh one more thing DON'T TRUST YOUR RECRUITERS NO MATTER HOW NICE THEY ARE TO YOU, THEY LIE...

Your young and you can take it. After all now you get to see the world and all that the Navy has to offer. Smile I am smiling because I am a Navy wife. Well, my husband was in the Navy in Vietnam. He served 3 tours. Alot has changed and yet alot is still the same with the Navy. One thing you need to know is to make copies of your medical records and any other records while you are in and keep the copies in a safe place. The reason I say this is because, if something should happen to you, you will need these documents. If your injured you will need them for when you get out. Also, if you pass the equator make sure you become a shell back. Right now your just a polly wog! Have fun, enjoy your time, and try to stay sober. Smile Take Care Polly wog! You will know what I mean when your in.

My son was in the navy and was not in the best of shape but not out of shape either. Don't volunteer and stay alert. Know your stuff and don't drag the company behind or they will make it ruff for you. Be friendly and cheerful and get along with the men in your company even if you don't like them. Operations Specialist is a good field to choose as when you are a port you are not on duty and have most of that time off. It will be a memorable time of your life and you can see the world. My son did but a friend that was on another ship did not go to very many places. Good luck.○

Navy boot camp is not nearly as physical as USMC or Army. You'll do your share of PT, but its a lot of classroom stuff. Learn all your general orders, rank and recognition, sailor's creed and all that before shipping to boot and you'll be a lot better off. You can advance to E-2 or E-3 before shipping out if you enlisted as E-1, just ask your recruiter how. Thanks for choosing the world's greatest Navy and best of luck to you!

Hope you like mopping! I heard that's what a lot of Seaman get stuck doing. I'm so glad I went into the Army but I'm proud of you for joining the military. Good job!

And really, I am not trying to sound snotty or sarcastic...I was just trying to be silly.
Keep working out too...you'll be fine!

Boot camp is a psychological mind game.
You have to learn to get out of your bunk fast and clothed and ready to go.
You have to keep all your stuff in order.
The day after boot camp you will be laughing about it.
You are going to have to sit through boring classes on the UNIFORM CODE OF MILITARY JUSTICE.
And how to find your way around a ship.
And line handling.
And sound powered phones(if they still use those things).
And what opportunities are available to you.
Millions of people have survived boot camp and thirty years, fourty years later they still remember the designation of thier recruit company and the names of thier recruit company commanders.
I have to go to military.com and find boot camp pointer/advise.
I will post link in a few .

note: here is tip number 9 from link.
9. It ain't personal. Nothing said in basic training is personal. The high-stress environment is part of the game. The winner knows this in advance.
