AKM SLR. (Russian 5.56 Self-Loading Rifle-rugged and idiot-proof.) I'd want an Ingram MAC10 Mpi for close quarter work, plus frag and phosphorus grenades. As much water that I could carry without affecting my mobility. Decent cook-in-tin rations, plus mars bars for the energy boost.
A hip flask of Plymouth gin, for use after, and only after, a firefight has been concluded and where there is no prospect of another firefight.
Alternatively, as I am a cook, the best weapon would be a Karscher field-kitchen, with the lightest portable food containers available. I could then cook hot meals behind the 'lines' for the fighting troops, and run them forward in the food containers to their positions. There is nothing better for morale than a well-cooked meal. I'd keep the Ingram for self-protection, and a couple of grenades, plus some stun grenades. But I'd prefer to festoon my body with as many food containers as possible, so the fighting troops could have a freshly- cooked hot meal in action. Curry and rice, or Stew and spuds, can be eaten from a mess tin, and still look good, even if the meal has got a bit jumbled as I dodge from cover to cover, with the food containers on my back.

The weapon I would pick if I had to go and fight in Afghanistan I would have to say I would use the .223 Remington and the .45 ACP because they both can put almost any target down with a single shot.Both are relaible also in the desert,and are easy to maintain.

An assault rifle.. Something like the M16...
But mostly I would want body armor.. Those damn Jihadis rely so much on IEDs it's just scary taking a step and wondering if this is your last step...
Body armor and a M16 is good enough for me..

Food, housing and money seems to be working for the troops that are there now. If you want to truly fight these guys, you have to make life easier for the population if they are gone, then you won't HAVE to fight them, their own people will turn them away.

That can will save my life.
I spray it in area that I think might have a wiring.
If the spray doesn't go all the way through smoothly, then I know not to go there because the bomb will go off.

AK47 Hella good round Armor Piercing and the weapon fires in damn near any weather condition, dirty, or soaked.... and on single shot is somewhat accurate
