he probably could but why would he....oh ya...lunatic...the one you should be feeling sorry for is your mom....hang up on him when he calls you...tell him you want nothing to do with him....just because he is your dad doesn't mean you should let him walk all over you or criticize your life or try to control your every move...get mean with him...tell him to f*** off...try to find examples of what a man should be...your friends dads or an older coworker...dont give up on men...some of us are decent guys

He can hire a PI if he wants too. There is nothing you can do about this.
However, start tracking his harrassment, write down when and where he calls you and what was said. Then go to the county court house and get a restraining order placed on him.
That way if he continues you can have him jailed.

He can hire anyone he wants to do anything, but you don't have to put up with his harassment, I'd contact the D.A in your community and get suggestions on how to handle this. It could be a restraining order or it could be pressing formal charges against him. I would write him (your Dad) a letter asking him nicely to leave you alone and to not try to contact you again or you will have to press charges against him. Make a copy for your protection (so he can't say you wrote him a threatening letter) and send it certified signed receipt. That way he has to sign for it and you will have proof he's had fair warning. Don't let him push you around just because he's your Dad, being a parent doesn't give you that right once your child has reached legal age. Good Luck.

Please go to your local court and get an anit-harrassment order against him. He can get a PI, but the PI cannot release the information to him when you have an anti-harrassment order against him. The employees at the court can help you get through the process and if you don't have enough $ to cover it, they can work with you on that also. It is a very simple process and they look out for your best intrest. Good luck

Anyone can hire a PI for any reason. If you are worried about being harrassed or your safety file a restraining order on your father its that simple.

Well, it depends where you live but I don't think he can do that, I would definitely call that harassment.
If it gets too bad you can have a restraining order taken out on him, then if he calls you or comes near you, you can then have him arrested.
I don't think you can stop him from hiring a private investigator but you can definitely tell the police what he is doing. And they will help you. You can let them know what he is doing to your poor mother too, and they will help her too.
It sounds like he needs psychiatric help.
I hope this has helped some.
Good luck, love.

He can get a PI. However that is plain and simple Harassment. You are an adult and he is to abide the law. You need to file a restraining order on him from getting a PI. That way if he does he can be arrested. Harrasment itself is a crime if you feel in danger, you can go to the cops on that. Also it is invasion of privacy.

yes he can but you can also get a restraining order and you
can also stop him from calling you at work by letting someone in management know maybe they can block his calls or you can simply hang up on him the minuet you hear him on the other end
he evidently has some child hood issues that need to be dealt with but still loves you and don't know how to show it maybe try
sitting down with him and mom and have a consular help out

He sounds like a Real winner!!
Get a restraining order on him and also explain that he's harassing you!!
Mom shouldn't suffer the lack of a Daughter because of this nut-bag! I'd explain the facts to her, but I bet that she already More than knows; as she has to put up with him 24/7!!

Yes he can hire a PI...but why would he? Do you owe him money? As far as harrassing you...no he cannot. You are 27 and living on your own...he cannot do anything about that...

No, call the non-emergency number for yur local police station and find out what they can do with what he's done so far.
Its probably not much, but as soon as he comes to where you live, call the cops! Do not go out and talk to him, have him removed and press charges. Do the same if he shows up at your work.
