I don't know about it being a fix, but I do think that it is ridiculous that the prize money should be allowed to get to that amount. I think that once it gets to 20 million and it hasn't been won, I think the money should be divided between charities, like cancer research, meningitis and other worthwhile charities, then start again.

No it is not fixed, it's a lottery!

Which means its results are unpredictable.

The ticket costs and the percentage going into the prize fund remain the same whether it is won or not, so there is no reason for the organisers to fix it.

More people buy tickets if the prize rolls over but the organisers also have to pay out more when it is won.....

If you want a predictable investement with a fair rate of return, open a savings account.

It could be. For a start, I don't understand why you say it is 5 pounds a go. Here in Spain it is 3 Euros (2 pounds).
It would be hard to find any gambling enterprise which attracts millions of pounds weekly that does not have some elements of corruption.

It doesn't need to be fixed for these things to happen.

The odds of winning are lower than the UK lottery, which is why the prizes can end up bigger. If you don't like it, then play the UK lottery instead.

If you're paying £5 a ticket you are getting ripped off. Its £1.50 a go on mainland UK
