When I think of cigars, I imagine someone holding a glass of hard liquor like scotch while playing pool, poker, or billiards. But, there are cigars with special flavouring, like cherry, that might go well with your cake and sours. I'm sure you can find cigars with flavoured tips like mint or methanol (to go with creme de'ment), strawberry (to go with daiquiris), and cherry (to go with black forest cake), and so on!

I've become fond of a bailey's on the rocks with cigars. It's a little creamy, but it doesn't diminish the flavor of a cigar too much (especially a very stout cigar like an MX2).
Honestly, I prefer non-alcholic drinks with my cigars: coffee in the winter and cokes in the warmer months.

Try red wines. I had a wine and cigar party last year and it was a blast! We couldn't talk very well the next day but it was truely a riot! Also, various scotches. Anything with distictive flavors like cigars have.

you can go with either a brandy or cognac, depending on the strength of the stogie.
i myself, an avid stogie toker, like a nice napoleon brandy with a heavy bodied cigar. a medium bodied cigar calls for a nice cognac like hennessey v.s.o.p.
red wine may be good, but i just don't care of pairing a cigar with red wine. a red pinot noir or Italian Chianti with a medium to heavy bodied cigar might work, for it pairs well with the spicy notes. a light to medium cigar can be paired with a soft mellow California red or french Bordeaux for it's taste.

Single Malt Scotch- something kind of peaty like Lavagulin or Laphraig- if you like it smoother without the peat- MacCallan 18 yr.Don't even bother with MacCallan 25 yr- it's not nearly as good, and of course it's more pricey.

smoking is unhealthy and drinking makes you sick so I guess any combination is horrible.
