I was raised by an alcoholic marine corps drill sergeant that would give me hell when he was home, I didn't like it at the time but I knew from taking it I didn't have to ever worry about taking it from any other human being on this planet. I think that's why he did it also.

I'm the nicest person you could ever meet because I know how bad things can be in this world, but if someone hurts another person in my presence I'm the meanest sob in the world also.

Not "to a pulp" - but he hit me so hard once I flew from living room into dining room wall....about 15 feet.
