nothing without first consulting your vet. She could have skin allergies, fleas or possibly impacted anal glands

I would keep her away from anything you don't want a mess on. It sounds like she may have to have her anal glands expressed. The anal glands are two glands located at about 5 and 7 o'clock on the dogs anus. Originally they excreted a scent marker where ever the dog defecated marking the territory as "his" or "hers". In modern dogs they serve no purpose. Most dogs express them on their own when the defecate, however some don't or cant. For some reason, the dogs that can't or don't are generally of the smaller toy or lap dog variety. Depending on how long they've been bothering her the texture of the matter inside could have changed making it more difficult for her to express them herself, and causing more to back up creating a vicious cycle. I would get her in soon to have them taking care of. For the very reason I just mentioned, if they aren't taken care of relatively quickly, scar tissue can form and cause further issues. They are also capable of ruptuering. Neither of which is good. The best home remedies tend to be warm compresses and activity. Best of luck with her!

My dog licks his paws alot because of allergies, and will almost lick them raw when the allergies are bad. Keep the house clean as possible to reduce the amount of allergens. Should help her out a little with the discomfort till you can make it to the vet. (as long as it is the same issue my dog had). The butt dragging my dog does too. Use to think it was a form of wiping done after defication, but I now think it has more to do with the (don't know the terminology so I may confuse ya) musk gland or whatever its called that is in the rectal cavity. Supposedly if you take your dog to a professional groommer, one of the services is that they "squeeze the crap" out of them. This isn't actually feces but instead it is accumulated toxins that build up in a pocket in the anus. As I have been told it has to be removed by a groomer, normal defication won't remove it. So to take care of removing the poisonous toxins themselves, dogs drag their butts across the grass or floor which I think dislodges the toxins. I have never had a groomer remove my dogs toxins so there must be a way for the dog to remove it themselves, and this method I believe is the dragging. Hope it helps, and by all means give her a good scratching behind the ear for me. =P

Ask him to check her anal glands. If she is not getting a routine worm check, get that too. If she has hair loss and itching just in the area in general consider a different diet, gradually over time. Royal Canin has an excellent one for toy breeds. Formulated specially for them.

If she is scooting her butt on the floor it might be her anal glands are full. We have a cat that does the same thing, the first time she did it we didn't know what the heck she was doing. The vet said that when they are full it is really uncomfortable for the animal so that could be it.

Sounds like she has skin allergies or worms or both. You do not give her age?
For the scooting; her anal glands my be stopped up and/or infected. You can try to squeeze them at the base of her tail by the anus - gentle - beware the stuff that comes out really stinks so have moist wipes a paper towels.

is she dragging her rectum on the rug? if so it's her anal glands and they need to be expressed. get her some hydrocortisone spray for dogs for the itch. if that doesn't work try baby benadryl just a little though. i use it occassionally. she may have a skin infection. its pretty common to min pins

This is gonna sound gross but you need to take a sample of her fecal matter with you when you go to the vet and you might wanna try squeezing the glands around her anus. Gross I know but dogs have glands there and they fill up and sometimes you need to empty them simply pretend like you're poping a pimple. That's usually why dogs drag their butts.
