My daughter is 28 months old she can say a lot of words. But some words she has her own way of saying which I don't correct cause anyone could tell what she's talking about. Like instead of cow she says moo and instead of chicken or rooster she says bach bach. Should I be correcting her. She does know what they are cause if I say where is the cow or chicken she can point them out. Also with things such as an eagle should I say its an eagle or can I keep it simple and just say bird.

NO, she isn't lagging.
Enjoy this wonderful time, you'll never get it again.
I miss bach bach and keep all flying fowl as birds, later they become big birds, little birds, blue birds and black birds.

use adult language with her. it is okay that she says moo for a cow but you can say, "a cow does say moo! can you say cow?" and if she doesn't say it no big deal...try again next time it comes up.

don't you start calling it a "moo cow" or a chicken "bach bach" because then you end up with children, like i had last year, who at 4 1/2 still call fire trucks woo woos, cars beep beeps and kid cuisine dinners a blue.

i would say it is an eagle. she'll probably say, bird and you say, "yup that is a bird, that kind of brown bird is an Eagle! can you say eagle?"

have fun! SD

She's just over 2 years old, and these benchmarks are just averages - meaning some kids come to it earlier and some kids come to it later. Don't worry, just keep your doctor apprised of her progress - a good doctor will let you know if something's amiss.

As for eagle vs. bird, that's your call.
