No don't use those, if you have a metal gutter somethin like that, they will leave holes and begin to rust. use S hooks, they're cheap and re-useable

Staple gun? not a good choice. K-mart sells plasic clips that are useful for attaching the strings to gutters, roof edges, siding, soffit etc.
They're cheap!

my grandpa has these really cool plastic snap on hooks that snap on to your rain gutters,they're easy!! today i actually helped put them up i need some of those too , i guess they'd be in the lights dept.

Cup hooks work very well.
