It's Dementia. Now, the dementia can be caused by different things, such as Altzheimers, hardening of the arteries, etc.

I agree with many of the others here, sounds like dementia, which commonly occurs in the elderly. You may initially develop Alzheimer's earlier in life, so I'm not going to go with that one, atually.
