My neighbour works in a bank. He and his wife (homemaker) do argue some times. She wants her husbend to agree whatever she tells. She does not bother for anything. If he won't agree due to any valid reason then she will go for hunger strike. She will starve for two or three days and fourth day she would start eating. Slowly she becomes normal. He is really worried with her behaviour. Does she encounter any severe health complications in future if it repeats? How he can make her normal? Does she need any theraphy? I have seen same kind of behaviour with some other women too.

She is blackmailing him. Ask both them to see doctor immediately without any delay. This behaviour definitely affects her interms of health in long run. Our body always tries to absorb some proteins/carbohydrates/vitamins/other stuff from our food. If those are unavailable then it tries to get it from body muscles/fat/blood etc. This process harms her brain too. Doctor only will treat her by using medicines/behaviour therapy.

Yes I think that this couple needs therapy. They are not relating to eachother in a normal way and using food as a weapon is unfortunate. Sometimes drugs can make a person argue more and also not feel hungry. It is not good for either of them but the woman's health might suffer in the long run. It's some kind of power she use over him to get her way. Very immature.

Yes she does need therapy. But she first needs to understand that something is not normal and must want to change. I am afraid that she uses her hunger strike to freak out her husband. During her episodes, the homemaker may not cook for her husband either in an attempt to starve him too. Tell your friend to seek help for his wife because it may lead to medical issues such as stomach ulcers. Some ulcers like duodenal ulcers lead to cancer.

In most cases, it is because of a eating disorder. But this is odd...
Yes, she will most likely experience severe health complications if it repeats. She is probably feeling dangerously weak during these periods of time, and she is depriving her body of neccesary vitamins and minerals. To make her normal, she probably needs to attend therapy.
