Jews have horns and are stingy.
Christians are anti-capitalist
Islamists (NOT Muslims) are peaceful
Hindus believe an elephant is their God.

To Tony:
You're mistaken. There are two forms of Buddhism; Mahayana and Theravada. One of those forms does what you said, while the other reveres Buddha as a God. The other form was created after original Buddhism after syncretism occurred in other areas (esp. Southeast Asia). So before you point out a misconception, be clearer in what you're trying to get across.

I'm Christian, and I think people have the idea that all Christians think the Bible is inerrant or infallible. Actually plenty of us know more about it and understand that Christianity existed and developed before it, and that Christianity is about loving God and neighbor, not about fufilling a desperate insecure need for certainty and authority.

I'm also Quaker, and I think people think that pacifist=passive, where it does not. Pacifism, or nonviolent resistance, means to actively resist evil - it just says not to become the evil you are trying to oppose.

Thanks for the question - it's a great one!

That Buddhists all believe in reincarnation and that karma somehow follows you across the generations. This is probably a majority view, but many western Buddhist practitioners find this concept unhelpful.

That Buddhists somehow worship Buddha as a god. This is almost universally not true.

That Buddhism is akin to Christianity, Judaism and Islam in its perspective on modern life. Buddhism is quite happy with modern life, and in most ways finds nothing to complain about in modern culture than in any other culture.

Pagan, with strong Wiccan influence.

The biggest misconception is probably that Wiccans "worship Satan" or "worship the creation, not the Creator".

Catholic:
that we worship Mary.

This really bugs me, I don't know why. I think because the truth of her becoming the vessel of God is difficult concept for some people, and they reject it, even though God Himself was the one who did it. Her womb became heaven for nine months, and this amazes only me? I feel like saying: Allah Akbar! God is Great!

That you must have a 'brand name' religion to have spiritual beliefs. For me no single religion has all the answers, although they all contain elements of divine inspiration and eternal truths.
