when i was little i would sleep at night (obviously). but if at some time during the night i noticed that the sheets or comforter on my bed had a wrinkle or something from me moving my leg...i would have to bend down and straighten it out before i went back to sleep. sometimes i woke up in the middle of the night and saw that my sheets were all swished around. i would actually GET up, turn my light on...and remake my bed before i went back to sleep. what the heck was wrong with me?

A classic symptom of OCD. (Obsessive compulsive disorder). Don't be surpised if it comes up again more seriously later in life.

Do you still do this? I did this from the age of 6 until I was 17. I guess ever since then, I was too tired to care. I know when I was younger and would have people stay the night and sleep in my bed (I had a queen size) they would get so mad at me b/c I would make my bed before I went to sleep Sometimes that would involved waking them up to make it. I don't think this is "what you have" or anything, but mine happened for a few reasons. Number one, when the bed is made, the sheets stay on better which means that in the middle of the night, I'm not yanking sheets up to stay warm...they stay in place. Also, it gets the lumps out, which makes me feel warmer b/c the sheets are flat. I sleep with TONS of blankets so I like them lying perfectly on top of each other and not have one pushed away and the other on top of me. The second reason I did this is because of my fear of spiders. This may sound silly and I have no clue if it's true (I think not, but someone may know). My sister used to tell me that spiders would get into my bed if the bed wasn't made. I asked why and she said because it gives them places to crawl with all the space in between the sheets. She said if the sheets were flat, then the spiders would more than likely not crawl in there and I'd be fine. I know how weird that sounds, but when I was little, I believed it...and it was a habit from there on out.

You may have a SLIGHT case of OCD with this, but it's nothing to sweat about. I don't think this is "normal" but I don't see anythign wrong with it. Maybe there was an underlying cause (like me).

I can remember remaking the bed in the middle of the night. In junior high I'd meticulously make my bed then sleep on top of the covers to keep it looking nice (I'd sleep without moving too much). I gave that up after a while. I'm an adult now and don't suffer from OCD or anything.

OCD, we all have some form of it. And I do the exact same thing you do and I'm 35yrs old. If my husband moves to much during the night {and this is usually the case} I'll get up and straighten his side of the bed too.I have a 6 month old and when I tuck him in at night i make sure everything is neat and straight on his bed and through out the night when he wakes to eat {wish he'd sleep through the night again} I tuck him back in again straightening the blankets and do this if I get up to use the restroom at night too. I also have a 13yr old daughter and I do it to her too!!! But then again I also check the shoes in closets to make sure they are lined up neatly I don't know why but I know its OCD

yes, ha ha.. i love it. I am not making light of the situation, but I can relate and it brings back memories of some of the crazy little things I did as a kid that were similar to that.
those kind of things are normally somthing that someon will outgrow, but if you don't out grow them, its good to go see a therapist. Doesn't mean your crazy, but they have good training on helping people find the root of why certain things bother them so much.
one of my obsessive behaviors was that anytime we left the house, i would have an excuse to go back in, just so i could make sure there were no burners left on the stove, that my sisters curling iron wasn't plugged in and that there was no fire burning in the fireplace. I'm glad my parents never found out, they woulda sent me to the looney bin for sure.

Was the house that you grew up in unrealistically clean? Some people take this to the extreme. Kids can't even be kids, etc. There is nothing wrong with things being clean and straight, but that is a little much to me.

seems to me that you were most likely suffering from a condition caused by anxiety. the condition is called obsessive compulsive disorder but i would not go so far as to say you have or had that i will go so far as to suggest that the anxiety disorder my have been present. . if you no longer feel the need to preform such rituals then this matter is best left where it is .
i hope this was of some help to you .

All kids have slight obsessive-compulsive tendencies, as well as autistic tendencies. Its totally normal. For me, if one side of my body did something, i would have to have my other side do it... like if i bumped my foot, or tapped it. i would have to do the same thing to the other one... how weird is that? Its normal!!!
