I am going dancing for my 18th birthday, and I would like a change for my hairstyle. My hair is super straight and doesn't take a curl very well, so what is the best way to get bouncy curls that will last several hours? Curlers, or curling iron? Any specific products? Bring on the info!

Thanks for all the great answers so far!

BTW, my hair is about medium length, with lots of layers all over, front and back. People say that my hair is really thick, and that I have a lot of it.

The sponge curlers overnight sounds like a good idea. And, of course I am going to have to use a TON of hairspray!

I was considering a perm, but I just don't know if I'm ready for it yet.

Thanks again, everyone :)

First if don't wash your hair the day you want to curl it will work the best. Sponge curlers over night will work the best. Depending on how much curl you want and how long your hair is. A good curling iron will work to if it is hot enough and when you have it curled in the rod just give a little spray of hair spray to help it stay longer. I wouldn't do this everyday however as it is hard on the hair. Also when you have the desired look spray the crap out of it...
By the Way Happy 18th Birthday... Your legal!!!! In Alberta Canada anyway...
PS don't drink and Drive...

I use hot rollers. I know it sounds old fashioned but I swear they work the best. I have really long straight hair this is what works for me. I put mousse in my hair first, then when before I roll the strand of hair I spray with with an aerosol hairspray. When you take the curlers out flip your head up side down and spray again!

curlers than go over them with curling iron... get a product that enhances curl.. this will help your hair take shape.

or try after washing your hair to plat it tightly whilst its still wet and going to bed. when you wake up it will have beautiful wave like curls. good luck & happy 18th.
