The world as a whole won. The nuclear war that could have happened would have taken more life then any one country could have rebounded from. I’m alive (I think Minneapolis was the 5th place that would have been hit) and your alive so we all win.

The Cold War is the name given to the relationship that developed primarily between the USA and the USSR after World War Two. Both sides distrusted the other. One had a vast army in the field (the Soviet Union with its Red Army supremely lead by Zhukov) while the other, the Americans had the most powerful weapon in the world, the A-bomb and the Soviets had no way on knowing how many America had. The Cold War began after World War Two. The main enemies were the United States and the Soviet Union. The Cold war got its name because both sides were afraid of fighting each other directly. In such a "hot war," nuclear weapons might destroy everything. So, instead, they fought each other indirectly. They played havoc with conflicts in different parts of the world. They also used words as weapons. They threatened and denounced each other. Or they tried to make each other look foolish.

Let's see...

The USSR doesn't exist any more, but the USA still do! So that means the USA automatically wins.

To people saying the USSR won: It didn't. So they might have had a more powerful military, they didn't use it, and they certainly didn't have the funds to utilize it if they wanted to. They crashed and burned and they haven't recovered yet.

Having a big military means crap if you can't back it up, and if the rest of your nation suffers because that's the focus of your funding. The USA has had a consistenly strong military with a sturdy economy, what a beautiful concept.

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics WON the Cold War against the United States.

Surprised? Well, the USSR could have mobilized it's huge military and nuclear missiles and attacked every country in Europe and America to regain the power lost to democracy. But USSR realized that if they did that, then it would have been the end of the world.

So to answer your question, USSR won the Cold War.

Technically the United States and the Soviet Union reached a draw. That is while extreme communism failed like the Soviet Union its ideas lived on. The liberals/socialists/Democrats in America and Europe mirror their Soviet counterparts in their worship in the state. The communists believe or not funded many of the 1960's peace groups and a decade after the fall declassified material founded McCarthy was right, communists were in hollywood. So who won? It was a draw. We have free democratic elections but our economy isn't totally free its free enterprise with macro command-style economic controls.

The Ussr had no viable means of delivery of bombs. Their weapons were junk. Their planes outdated. Most of their bombs were doubtful.

USA is still here, they are not.
Just curious, was this a serious question, are you that out of touch or are you just stupid?

I'd say the human race won that war. After all, nobody used any of their nuclear weapons. The idea that you could treat the cold war like a basketball game or something is a ridiculous trivialization of something very momentous.
