USA has the better Air Force & Navy both China & USA, have Nuclear Weapons. Anti-Missles for Nuclear Weapons have very limited capibilites. Realisitic I cannot see winning war with China, if fought on their soil. Where Wars won or lost it is Ground Troops(Infantry). Remember the majority of USA Ground Troops are Recruits. Whoever soil it is fought on will win the war, but will suffer major damages.
Its depends on the Allies it is very crucial to have Canada & Mexico have their Military working with USA.

Ok... China DOES have a much larger Army, yes, and they are rapidly caching up with first-world military technology.

HOWEVER, the U.S. Army has distinct advantages:

1. Professonal NCO (Noncommissioned Officer) Corps.
NCO's (or Sergants) are the people who 'make it happen' in a Military Organization. They turn theory and printed orders into trucks moving and troops marching. They are the voice of experience, the lightning rod of motivation, and right hand of discipline. They are there at the first day of recruit training and lead the last charge into battle. No Military today has a better trained, as highly motivated, or well educated NCO corps than the U.S., period. All volunteer, world-class training, and a long history of a military that puts a premium on the life of its members (Yes, even now).

The Chinese model is still based on the old Soviet System,
which treats soldiers (indeed, whole divisions) as ammunition to be expended. This is the bitter lesson learned during WW2, where millions of young men where thown into German steel to stem the Nazi tide. In the Soviet system, it is the Junior Officers that do the training, people who barely know the job themselves. (This is most evident in the more technical services, like the Russian Navy and Airforce, which are still struggling after many attemps to change the system).

2. Power Projection.
Power Projection (in a basic sense) is the concept of putting the troops where you need them, in a practical, sustainable, and most important, timely manner (Or how far away you forces can operate from their home bases). The U.S. has it hands down. In Korea, Japan and (If needed) Taiwan are massive, well established bases ready to accept huge amounts of troops and supplies at short notice, right on China's doorstep. Did I mention that the U.S. has been fighting sustained conficts thousands of miles from home since 1898?

The Chinese have...Trains?(most land tranport in China is by train) As large as the Communist Chinese Army is, it has never fought a conflict more than several hundred miles from its own borders. You could argue it gives them a defensive advantage, but wars aren't won on the defensive.

What is the point of having the biggest sword, if you can't lift it to defend yourself?

Lastly, for the 'Nuke crowd' ,
The Chinese have an estimated 130 warheads

A single Ohio-class missile submarine carries 192 warheads, and the US has 14 of them.

..Kind of tough question

US would win in a war due to a couple reasons. Yes China has bigger numbers but the US has about 8-9 times the money to spend on war, the US technology is ALOT better, and America has the best training on Earth. All China has is numbers and a couple million guys w/ guns from around 1980-1985.

The U.S spends half of its annual budget on the military. The number of soldiers is irrelevant now that the nuclear weapon exist. The US is not a superpower because of its bright economic set up, but becaouse of its army. China does have like 5 million soldiers while the us only has 1 point something million, but we have very advanced weapons. China is one of the biggest producers of weapons thou. So is america thou. It would be inetersting to see some sort of simulated war. I would bet the us now, but in some 20 years who knows.

Hard to say. Both armies have basically the same technology. China has a very large army, U.S. has hydrogen and nuclear bombs and other weapons of mass destruction but is too wimpy to use them while China might. Also, soon, it might definitely be China, because they are building some extremely powerful elite army "Red Army".

it can be debated that having a larger number of personnel under arms ready for rapid deployment can win by attrition, however, considered tactics and strategic use of rapidly deployable components of warfare, can quickly bring the numbers into a more manageable range of particular strategem for further engagement. the chinese do have a massive number of trained personnel under arms with strict dicipline and compulsory service involved, while our own forces are somewhat smaller. they are better equiped and supported. we also have acces to many more combat experienced personnel in different diciplines and multiple cross trained specialties, on top of those who are experienced in deployments from all over the globe. remember an allegory of the past. skill and training well considered, the one to leave the field of battle walking, is he who has experience and well tested methods working for him

China is bigger, but it's technology dates back to the Clinton administration when the US gave them everything they asked for in exchange for campaign contributions.

The US military is excellent, but the civilian leaders are too namby-pamby to use them to the full extent necessary to solve problems. (State sponsors of terrorism like Syria and Iran are still free to attack our forces with impunity, for example.)

China has a slight problem, however. They'd love to take the US out, but they don't have a big enough navy, and they're at the point where they realize it would be stupid to destroy their best customer.

I pray the USA does
China recently toured a US military base and the US toured one of theirs The following is a quote from an admiral prior to the visits
"U.S. officers need the interaction to better understand one of the world's most rapidly growing economic and military powers, and said he expects China to reciprocate."

If we are clearly referring to fighting capabilities, the USA is far more advanced and armed, to be a far more devastating military.
