"Either God wants to abolish evil, and cannot; or he can, but does not want to. ... If he wants to, but cannot, he is impotent. If he can, but does not want to, he is wicked. ... If, as they say, God can abolish evil, and God really wants to do it, why is there evil in the world?" (Epicurus, as quoted in 2000 Years of Disbelief)

Antagonize? You can't think of anything better to do than antagonize? Nothing? I mean, come on and play, sure - but lets spend our time looking for similarities and common ground rather than just antagonizing. What code of ethics or spirituality advises antagonization when bored?

Peace!

PS - here, if you are that bored you can make some snowflakes for a good cause at least:

http://www.popularfront.com/snowdays/

PPS - oh, yes - there was a question...How about if all you super-enlightened Athiests take advantage of your position as logical people and try to understand others, the nature of our existence and try to understand "god" in the nicest possible light. In the most uplifting way. You don't have to believe it, but that doesn't mean you can't understand it.

How about learning what you have been preaching to Christians? You have your faith and that satisfies you - great. I have mine and someone else has another. What good does it do to shriek at Christians about how foolish they are? If you could be successful and truly strip them of their Faith, what do you offer in return? Seemingly nothing - you say Job Done and walk away, leaving someone alone and asea in a strange world without even the comfort of their Faith. Why? Let's all just be nice to each other, huh?

I don't see god and this existence the way christians do - but I can see where they are coming from and I can relate what I know in terms they are comfortable and can understand and relate to - so they continue talking. The more we talk the more we find that everything is just that - a thing. Only humans use labels of good and evil - things are neither. A thief may sin, but a poor mother stealing to feed her children, not so much - you see? There is good and bad in everything and it is simply because humans perceive it as so.

Please, don't feel that I am angry or insulted, I am not. I am more surprised at the similarities I find in the way Athiests and Christians go at each other - and I kind of expect it from Christians, but not from Athiests, somehow. Christians can say "it is our duty to convert people" or "it pains us to think you are going to hell" but Athiests don't really have anywhere near a noble reason. It's more "you just look so stupid believing a fairy tale" or "you must be a simpleton if you could be a christian" - much less attractive if you ask me.

Peace!

God allows evil to exist because in order for there to be love, which god really wants, there must be free will. The problem is that because there is free will, there is the possibility of evil as well as the possibility of good.

i think of you're able to look those words up in a dictionary: "Humour". "Sarcasm". "Irony". Get it now..? No? How a pair of opposite lobotomy, then? I hear they're extremely low cost at the instant. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - EDIT: i will in undemanding terms talk for ONE atheist, and that's myself. yet for my section, I very in lots of cases supply long, informative solutions. in general, i'm here to help people out. And in case you check out my stats, you will see that. while the questions get moronic, even though if, I supply extra or much less sarcastic solutions. it is basically the way i'm... I *think of* many different atheists experience an identical way too. you're able to ask them. "I do see alot of Christians telling others they are going to hell and that i don't consider it. in the event that they're attempting to transform them, they're certainly basically pushing them further away." properly, thank you for because of the fact, a minimum of. it fairly is a stable start up! And on your ideas, you're one hundred % precise approximately it. (not that the rest is going to transform us the two, besides...)

Nice idea.

How's this tho...

I like to thing of the universe as a giant MMORPG. Much like Everquest or City of Hero's. Everything is designed around that MMORPG motif. We are all playing charcters in this game. Why does evil exist, you do need for womething for the hero to stand against. If there is no Evil, there can't be anything good...

I believe that god made evil to test the faith of believers. He wants to challenge us.

What kind of challenge would it be to be christian in an all-christian world where everyone is good and none are evil? it wouldn't be a challenge at all! if that were the case, Christianity would be easy!

but it isn't the case, so it isnt easy.

i'll ponder you with these two little gems;

1. if god forgives all and it's never too late, why do you need hell, when all is forgiven, and why be a believer all your life? when you can be a believer at the last minute and still enter the brandiberg gates?
2. if all religons are true and real, so when you die, how or where do you go, to get to your respective heaven or matrydom or nirvana? do we have an airport or passport downstairs?

God never created evil. He created free will, which turned into evil. I believe(but I don't know) that God doesn't stop evil to a certain extent because when we suffer, we become compassionate. And when others put down our faith or beliefs, we cling even harder to them to defend them. You, whether or not you believe it, are helping me believe what I believe with greater faith.

You are trying to guess the motivations of God.
Perhaps you could ask him this yourself.

I think the first part is explained in that we are created immortal. That is, our bodies are but clothing we wear. Prisons, as you will, perhaps I would go so far as to say we are being pre-punished with the experience of death, which no immortal has ever tasted.

Your statement assumes mortality, not immortality.
