Not only might I (or any of the rest of us) be wrong....We are all very likely to be wrong in most of our assumptions and presumed knowledge. The bulk of scientific knowledge has been overturned across the centuries. However, the process has continued to work.

Religions have arisen and fallen, and even the survivors are reinterpreted to reflect the needs of the age. The Christianity of today would be unrecognizable to most Christians even 300 years ago.

We dream of timelessness, but we and our ideas are largely ephemeral. There is only the barest chance that any of our ideas will live longer than a century or so.

Yes, I admit it. I feel sure that I am right and I think I have good reasons to think so, but I know that other people feel just as sure about their believes as I feel about mine, so feeling sure about something is never a good proof that it is really true.
I also know that human knowledge is very limited, and I always have to admit that when I am asked how I explain the origin of life and of the universe as an atheist. So the only thing I feel sure about is that the scientific method is the right way to get knowledge about these questions, but I don't even think that we will ever know everything.
Anyway I am sure enough that there is no eternal hell for the non-Christians or non-Muslims that I am not afraid of this.
And I respect the believes of other people as long as they are respectful. I never attack anyone's faith unless they tell others they will burn in hell and unless they justify violence with their religion.

I very well might be wrong about my assertation that there is no god. But then, there's no evidence for it, so I really doubt whatever god there might be could blame me for not believing since he apparently gave me at least half a brain to begin with.

I might change my mind given some evidence - it's happened before. But I haven't seen any in this case.

I can remember a day back in 1968 when I made a mistake. I've been perfect ever since then, and I'm in my fifties! Only kidding! I make mistakes all the time! And I can certainly be flat out indisputably wrong!

I am always 100% ready to admit this. I came to faith based on careful study and lots of prayer, but I fully realize that there are good and honest Christian folks who read the same Scriptures that I so, and have come to different interpretations.

I know that we all will have a good long time to sit in Purgatory and talk it all out!!

;-)

Kidding!! Wink-wink, brothers!!

I can admit it, and I have.

Even on the topic that I feel most strongly about -- the question of the existence of god -- I'm willing to change my views, provided someone can come up with evidence.

BTW, it's not necessarily true that "you might be wrong and they might be right." In fact, both of you might be wrong.

Most people answer spiritual questions with "I believe..." Our beliefs can always be wrong.

However, I trust not in my own reasoning, but in God's as he recorded it in the bible - a book unique in all of history, having 60 some odd books, having been written over thousands of years by scores of men on three continents. yet it is consistent in theology and symbolism and it even records and fulfills its own prophecy over the course of this time.

I am fallible. I may not understand the bible perfectly, but my hope is in He who is perfect. I'll take the Bible as the basis for my beliefs over "I believe" any day of eternity.

well if I thought it was possible, I would admit it.

I know the Bible is not wrong, but thats the Bible, not me.

I am just a man and very capable of making mistakes. God doesn't make mistakes,(although I have met a few people who have caused me to think I am wrong about that). Me, I make mistakes but NOT GOD, He is flawless.

In Hinduism one who thinks he knows everything is bound to fall because of his Ego. One who does not agree truth is suffering from Ego problem.
There is a great saying "everyone knows an amonut of ant and does not know amount of mountain:.
Ego is the root cause of all miseries.

if there is proof that i am wrong, i have no problem being wrong, and will admit and appologise for being wrong. but there is one thing that no person can ever be wrong about and that is their religious beliefs.

if they believe it then it is right for them. and i am sure that there is a god out there that will appreciate their beliefs. no matter how messed up they may be.
