Hey there,
I was in a hurry earlier to get you the above phone number as quickly as possible, so my response was a bit curt. I wanted to add KUDOS to you for your quick thinking with the peroxide - when my dog ate poison mushrooms, that's precisely what I was advised to do. You may well have saved your pup's life !
Also, congrats on having a Pit pup; I have a Pit mix - the most lovable dog in the world. Pits can be the most amazing, loving and loyal dogs when they are owned by the right people - and judging by the way you immediately acted to save your Pit pup, I have a hunch that you are the right person for your dog.
I hope all turns out well and that your pup suffers no more than a bit of a tummy ache. Best wishes to you and your pup for a long, happy & loving companionship !

I am glad that you acted so quickly by inducing vomiting. That was quick thinking. If at all possible I would not wait until morning- Do you have an emergency vet in the area? He needs a vitamin K shot as soon as possible- The first 12 hours are critical. The rat poison actually makes them bleed internally-this is how it kills the rodents. He will need treatment for the next few weeks as well as periodic blood tests to be sure he is clotting his blood properly. Please if at all possible get him treated tonight. Even though he probably vomited up most of the poison I would not take any chances. Hope all goes well and I hope he is better soon!

If a dog eats rat poison, vomiting should only be induced if done within thirty minutes of ingestion(if it is warafin based).
Using peroxide was the proper way to induce vomiting,so don't worry about that.It is an accepted method, recommended in dog care books, and by Vets.
Waiting till morning can be risky, and the dog should have the vitamin K shot as soon as possible. If you live in an area with an emergency vet clinic,I would suggest you go,and not waite till morning.
I would also suggest you shop around for a vet that will handle matters like this after hours. We have no emergency animal clinics withen 2 hours, but have several vets who will handle emergency's after hours. If you don't have one in your town, try to find one in a close by town.It may be a bit of an inconvenience to go to an out of town vet,but having one who will respond after hours is crucial.
Wishing the best for your dog,and I hope He is OK.

you should NOT use any more peroxide, it is not made to be consumed, it is for external use ONLY! i would do an internet search for a vet nearby that is open all night or that has after hour emergency care, it is quite possible that he could die, that is a large amount of poison that the little guy ate, puppies are definitely a handful, i suggest doing that internet search and not waiting until morning, get him in to see a vet RIGHT NOW! alot could happen between now and in the morning, thats several hours away. puking up blue stuff is also not a very good sign, i have 5 dogs, out of my experience...puppies will get into anything and everything, for future reference...if you wouldnt want a child to have access to it, then you dont want your dog to either, always put it in a cabinet or somewhere up high where the dog can not reach. be sure to tell your vet that you used peroxide to make him vomit.

I honestly don't know of any other remidies, other than perhaps milk to coat the stomach. In my opinion, this is very serious and even if the dog survives, there could very well be neurological damage as a result, among other things. My best advice is to just stay up all night with him and make him as comfortable as possible. I do wish you the best of luck. And for future referance, put the poison any steel wool pads and/or antifreeze somewhere the dog would not be able to get to it. Some things, especially antifreeze, have a scent that is irresistable to dogs, but clearly so poisonous. Good Luck!

Please remeber when you go into the vet to take the box the rat poison was in with you. This is very helpful to the vet. If it were me I would watch him VERY closely until you get to the vet. If he starts acting lethargic or seems worse call your vet ask about emergency visits. I hope it turns out okay for you.

Sounds like you did the right thing with the peroxide. But I think waiting until the morn to get to vet is a little risky. There are such things as emergency clinics/hospitals for animals after normal vet hours. I think I would try to locate one asap.

you need to bring your dog to the vet right away .. my lab once ate rat poison and we brought her to the vet right away and the vet gave her medicine to make her throw it up .. look online for pet after hours care .. there are many of them. Or call ASPCA 8884264435 .. they might be able to give you information!

I've had a friend who had her chiahuahua (sp) eat rat poison and she crushed up charcoal and mixed it with milk and he puked as was fine. I'm sure if you take him to the vet they will know exactly what to do.
