I don't personally wear my pants this way, but to say its of the devil is overboard in my opinion. I think it all starts from people seeing famous people such as rap artists that do it and they want to act and be more like them. I enjoy attending church, but sometimes I disagree when things of this nature are said, when something is of the devil I think of it as something that is harmful to someone, I don't see this as harmful. What are your thoughts?

I think you need to find another church. THere is no where in the Bible that states that and as a pastor, he should not be judging. for.there is something in the BIble that says that.

The fad of wearing pants down low was developed in the Black American community... It was spawned by young men who were showing how calloused and unrepentant they were following a stay in the penitentiary. It was essentially an advertisement and a badge of honor for being a jail-hardened criminal.

To say that it is a behavior 'of the devil' seems just as misguided as the act itself. Why not just speak of this and other sub-culture behavior in ordinary ways... as different, misguided, wrong, odd, unusual, trendy, harmless, kool, etc. ...why add in mythical Devil and God characters at all? Do your preachers always speak as if they know the opinions of the 'spirit personalities' accurately - what, do they think they have an inside track of some kind? .. a special clergyman's clairvoyance or something? ... or are they just giving out their own flim flam opinions?

The church is all just a lot of tosh anyhow! Pay it no mind.

Of the devil? Nah. But read on - it's certainly NOT something you want to do if you knew what it means and where it comes from.

Where this comes from is prison culture. Yep.

I've done volunteer work at level 4 state prisons, and I have to tell you, those young men who think they are "cool" for dong this would be horrified if they knew how and were and why that "style" got started.

It's like this: you can always tell who the 'yard bosses" are (who are also the sexually dominant ones) because the waistbands of their pants are up around their waist.

The guys with 6 inches of boxers showing above their pants, which are barely being kept up by their butt cheeks? They are sexually submissive - that's what it means. They are "for the taking" by any other inmate more powerful than they are.

Rap artists, or at least some of them, glorify the gang and prison culture...but I don't think they "get" what signal they are sending by wearing their pants like that.

What does the preacher say about women wearing pants? God puts clothing on people. The devil takes clothing off. Where do you stand? When you grow up will you "almost wear the pants in your family?"

First of all, did the devil himself tell this to your preacher? If not, then how does he know? Wearing pants low on the hip is just tacky, but there's nothing "evil" about it. It disgusts me to hear that preachers take advantage of people like that.

The spirit of God is inside you and inside us all.
When you came into this world you weren't wearing anyhing at all.

I don't wear my pants that way but I believe part of it is your motive. Are you just comfortable or wearing pants to interest the opposite sex?

If you don't agree with the preacher perhaps you need a different preacher. It took a few for me.

that's guy indoctrinating his church. there is not any Jew, no Gentile, no slave, no slave proprietor, there is largely Christ. in case you're born-returned then you incredibly are in Christ. on the different hand, there are church homes out west and down south that still cope with the sin of racism. i ought to comprehend that a predominantly black church might communicate approximately issues that are basically proper to them yet, to declare that this may well be a black church and to make a white guy or woman experience uncomfortable, which they might, in a church of Jesus Christ sends a message of hate somewhat than cohesion in Christ. comparable is going for the racist white church homes that do the same element yet do not say it interior the preaching yet tutor it while a guy or woman who's darker than them walks for the duration of the doorways.

The fundamentals of religion are rules to keep a person from sinning. Baptism does a better job because a person is baptized into Jesus' death and resurrection. Because the spiritual is unseen, people trust more in what is visible. If a person is dead, he cannot sin because he is dead (even though he is walking around). Since he is baptized and one with Jesus, he is given the gift of God's righteousness which is also invisible and by faith. Fundamentalism is of the material realm, which has Satan as its prince, but faith is of the spiritual realm, which has Jesus as its king.

You are right, wearing your pants low on your waist is not of the Devil. That is an extremely legalistic point of view. It is like saying a woman who cuts her hair is going to hell. I believe that God expects us to set ourselves apart from the rest of the world. He commands that we come out from among them, but I do not believe he is that concerned about our pants. Men are to look like men, and women are to look like women. We need to be concerned and modest in our apparel, and not give up too much information( if you know what I mean ). People who are truly in love with Christ will know what God wants for them. Read your Bible, God spends very little time addressing things like Clothing and hair and jewelry, but he does talk about it.

I hate pants being worn like that, but I do not agree that it is 'of the devil' that is just an excuse this man used to make his parishioners stop. This would be known as an abuse of authority.

It's totally crazy. always looking at the outside of man, what about the preachers who bring in big tithes and offerings from their sheep, promising them they'll become rich, and then live in huge houses and drive fancy new cars, this is worse than hip hugger pants.
