Powerpoint is not free, but open office is. It has all the tools in microsoft office, including powerpoint. Just go here to download it. http://www.openoffice.org there you go. You may need instruction on how to use it. the help files work nicely

Microsoft Powerpoint is not free, but if this is a short term project you can download a 60 day free trial of Microsoft Office Pro 2007 (http://us20.trymicrosoftoffice.com/product.aspx?sku=3082915&culture=en-US). After 60 days you'll have to uninstall it or buy it.
Another free option would be to use Impress from the OpenOffice.org office suite (http://www.openoffice.org/product/impress.html).
A third option would be to use an online application that can edit Powerpoint files. The folks at Zoho.com have an app called Zoho Show (http://show.zoho.com/). Nothing to install. If you already have a Powerpoint file that you want to edit, you can import it into Zoho Show. The only catch is Zoho Show cannot create Powerpoint files. Nor can it save any changes in .ppt format. The only export option for viewing the file offline is in HTML format.

ThinkFree lets you actually create .ppt files from scratch. It's an online app so there's nothing to install. I just signed up and tested it myself. It really works.
