It depends on what channels you're interested in. Dish has more variety in packages to choose from. If you don't really watch that much TV, you can get cheaper packages on Dish. For the bigger stuff, it's really a tossup. The signal from both is quite strong and similar to each other. The other person who had a problem likely didn't have his dish aligned correctly. All of the packages are on their websites so take a look.

I've had DIRECTV for four years and love it. I've never used Dish Network. What I can tell you is that I've negotiated with DIRECTV and I have gotten a free TIVO and they have also discounted my monthly bill to keep me as a customer. They provide a good service at the right price. You can also pick and choose new services over the web and have them added to your service within minutes.

I personally think DirecTV because i had dish network but we were always loosig signal. But now our direcTV is working great. I love it.
