try to email or call him just to see how he is doing and to say hi. if he writes or calls he's interested.

Qu is right. But you also don't know that he dosen't want to.
YOu have to try, in every way possible to communicate with him, and avoid lying to him. Don't know his email address (perhaps because the one he had, when he last saw you, no longer exists?) or his mailing address, ect? Contact someone in his family, and ask for the contact info you need. Be williing to cooperate with him, this time, if he wants you back.
