...and a trustworthy university student offers to shop and deliver groceries to her every Saturday, does $10 seem reasonable?

Best wishes,

pup

$10 is what the student wants - it came up between them that the girl could help her and this is what they agreed to - it seems she's not asking enough, but it's all she wants.

No it doesn't seem reasonable at all..... I think it should be more. But you should make sure that you don't force him/her to take more...He/she may feel insulted. He/she may be just trying to cover his/her costs for gas etc....and just do the right thing for an elderly person.... I compliment him/her.

Losing the last bit of freedom that an elderly person has is usually driving privilages. It's very hard for many seniors to accept. I would recommend, that while you have the grocery situation figured out, you make sure you spend as much of your time as possible with her too. Activity and mental stimulation is what keeps them sharp and living longer.

I think 10 dollars is a reasonable amount, I guess it would depend on how far the student has to drive (you know the price of gas these days). But if it's not too far, 10 dollars is good.

That would depend on how much time was involved, the distance the student would have to travel and the cost of transportation. That would be the minimum wage for about one and one-half hours work, here in the US.

10 dollars is all they are asking or what you are offering...if this is what the student is asking for then hell yeah its very reasonable but i personally would feel cheap if thats all i paid..if 10 is what you are offering thats a bit cheap in my mind....just the cost of gas alone should warrent a bit more

Sounds cheap, considering gas prices these days
