Frank's question about tattoos just got me thinking... I've got a tattoo on my back/shoulder, and sometimes, but not all the time, it has a raised outline, I can feel it clearly with my fingers - has anyone else noticed this, & is it normal? (The artist was not the most reputable, I was a rebellious teenager when I got it done!).

Out of my five tats, I can feel the outline of three. The one just below the back of my neck tends to raise when I get really warm or my skin gets really dry. I went to a very reputable shop, but admit to taking less than perfect care of it at first because I wasn't completely happy with it.
Don't know if it's normal or not, but you're not alone.

I have 15 tattoos, and mine have all done that at one time or another, but it's usually only one tattoo that does it at a time.

When this happens, the tattoo is normally very itchy, also.

So, I have decided that it happens because I've eaten something I'm slightly allergic to, and I just don't know I'm allergic to it.

But it always goes away after a day or so, and then everything is fine.

Yeah, on my larger peice i can feel it very clearly.I just think its cool, even a blind person could enjoy your tattoo to a degree if you dont mind em tracing it.

Dont get that with mine but I know some people who notice things like that after sunbathing. Guess it depends when it happens to you.

Yeah, its normal. My fiance has a celtic dragon on his arm, lots of detailing, looks awesome, but I can feel the lines with my fingertips. Hes had it for years.
Dont worry! : )
