1. "Know thou of a truth that the soul, after its separation from the body, will continue to progress until it attaineth the presence of God, in a state and condition which neither the revolution of ages and centuries, nor the changes and chances of this world, can alter. It will endure as long as the Kingdom of God, His sovereignty, His dominion and power will endure. It will manifest the signs of God and His attributes, and will reveal His loving kindness and bounty."
2. "As to the question whether the souls will recognize each other in the spiritual world: this fact is certain; for the Kingdom is the world of vision where all the concealed realities will become disclosed. How much more the well-known souls will become manifest. The mysteries of which man is heedless in this earthly world, those he will discover in the heavenly world, and there will he be informed of the secret of truth; how much more will he recognize or discover persons with whom he hath been associated. Undoubtedly, the holy souls who find a pure eye and are favored with insight will, in the kingdom of lights, be acquainted with all mysteries, and will seek the bounty of witnessing the reality of every great soul. Even they will manifestly behold the Beauty of God in that world."
3. "... a love that one may have entertained for any one will not be forgotten in the world of the Kingdom. Likewise, thou wilt not forget (there) the life that thou hast had in the material world."
4. “The inscrutable divine wisdom underlies such heart-rending occurrences. It is as if a kind gardener transfers a fresh and tender shrub from a narrow place to a vast region. This transference is not the cause of the withering, the waning or the destruction of that shrub, nay rather it makes it grow and thrive, acquire freshness and delicacy and attain verdue and fruition. This hidden secret is well-known to the gardener, while those souls who are unaware of this bounty suppose that the gardener in his anger and wrath has uprooted the shrub. But to those who are aware this concealed fact is manifest and this predestined decree considered a favor. Do not feel grieved and disconsolate therefore …”

Heaven or hell.
Those are the only two options.
If born again, the scriptures say, "absent from the body; PRESENT with the Lord".
Christians go immediately to be with Him at their time of their death.
If unsaved, the Bible says, "But it is appointed unto man ONCE to die, bit after this the judgment". Hebrews 9:27

People die and go to their graves where they unconsciously await the resurrection AT THE RETURN of Christ!!
Contrary to popular belief, Christians do not go to heaven at death. Jesus PROVES this:
John 13:36 Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered him, "Where I am going YOU CANNOT follow me now, but you will follow afterward."
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I WILL COME AGAIN and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

Yes indeed there is. There is a Heaven and a hell. God's kingdom is heaven and John 3:3 says "Unless you are born again you cannot see the Kingdom of God" --to be born again means to be redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, believing in what He did for you- that He died and rose again so you could be forgiven of sin and given eternal life in him- See Romans 5:8
Those who reject Jesus Christ are cast into hell- also known as lake of fire, sheol, the pit- there is punishment for sin and God has given us a free gift of salvation by His grace alone- not by any good work we do- but by faith alone in Jesus Christ- See Ephesians 2:8
In Revelation 20 it says that whoever's name is not found written in the book of life is cast into the lake of fire which is hell- the book of life holds all of the names of the saints of God, those who were saved here on earth, who believed and repented of sin and followed Jesus. And they receive the kingdom of Heaven- for eternity with the Lord! But without Jesus Christ, you are eternally separated from God and Heaven after this life- Jesus says "I am the only way, truth and life and no one comes to the Father but through Me" John 14:6

Saved people go to paradise. Unsaved go to hades. When Christ comes, He will create hell and cast the devil and his cronies into hell. Then Judgment will take place. Sinners will be cast into hell, and the saved will go to the New heaven.
