Well, I'll assume that you might be meaning that your three-year-old son is not talking as much as other three-year-olds. I have a three-year-old daughter and she talks all of the time. But some do not. If you think that he is not talking at all, then you might want to take him to a doctor and discover if he is a late bloomer. My little brother did not talk for the first three years and now, at 29, he does not shut up. You never know.

Being non-verbal at 3, might indicate that you need to have him evaluated by a pediatrician. Some possibilites could be hearing loss, developmental delay or possibly Autism. I would strongly recommend you to get tested and rule these things out soon as possible. Early intervention is the key to catching your child up. There may be nothing to worry about, but it doesnt hurt him to be evaluated and you can also get peace of mind. Good luck!!

Are you asking or stating that a three year old is not talking?
Maybe he needs to be around other kids on a daily basis.
Monkey see, monkey do and monkey say, monkey repeat works great for socializing and potty training and it may be just what he needs.
Perhaps you could take him two or three times a week to La-Petite or Tutor Time where they have preschool programs for three year old's.

i'm a doctor. don't worry. my little sister is 13 now, but she really didn't start talking until she was 6. she is top of her class. i would probably take ur son to a psychiatrist to have an IQ test done next year. because if he has a high IQ u can take him to a school especially for children of his standards. i promise you i know what i'm talking about. i just had twins. i would know any precautions. most of the time the higher IQ is actually genetic.

i have 2 children a girl and a boy. my son is the younger of the 2. he didn't start talking until after he turned 3. he would do the normal toddler talk (pointing, uh uh's, etc) and his sister would tell me what he wanted. i didn't push him to talk really. at about 3 and a half he started talking and hasn't shut up since.

This could be a sign of Autism. Hubby's sis Alicia has Autism- I am a special ed teacher of JR HIGH and some kids don't even talk because of their autism. I suggest going to see a specialist who can serve a proper diagnosis.

My oldest son very few words until he was five. He turned out to have a genius I.Q. Still wouldn't hurt to have the doctor look him over to be sure everything is okay.

Well, you didn't give a background on whether or not he's never talked, or if he was talking and suddenly stopped. My only answer to your question is to have him evaluated for autism. Sometimes children are simply delayed and I really do hope that is the case for you!!

if you are really concerned go to your child's doctor.
however here is a little story that happened to a boy that my grandmother took care off occassionally
at 3 years old he also would not talk, one day this kid's grandfather walked into the kitchen and said those S.O.B. cows. well what was the first words out of his mouth? that's right: those S.O.B. cows. and after that you could not get him to shut up after that.
