You have to look at many things here. They say opposite attract, so, do you really want someone exactly like yourself? If, I a Bad Boy and want a Goody Two Shoes then I can make my profile meet your needs, we bad boys know women. If, you really looking, how far you willing to drive/fly to meet this person AND how often? I not say this can not work, but, just be careful and not think you live in California some guy in New York will quit his job to come to you so you be close to your parents (Yea, I know you not in Cali, it an example). They're cr*p, take my word for it. You will meet people at certain times in your life depending on who you are, who they are, what you're doing and what they're doing. Trying to predict who you'll end up with is a pointless waste of time and not worth the effort.
Enjoy now and see where it takes you, don't think about things that haven't happened and probably won't!
