Yes, I think it's tacky and rude. Even though I don't celebrate it, I don't feel the need to be rude either.

I don’t think it would even make my top ten of things that bother me about Christmas (as currently practiced). A lot of things that bother me about Christmas.
The over-commercialization
The greed
The over-indulgences
Christmas fairies—can’t have angels anymore.
Santa Claus worship, instead of celebrating Christ
People throwing away money and going into debt because they feel obligated to buy stuff.
The traffic nightmare, and knowing many drivers are more inebriated than usual.
Stores playing Santa music even before Thanksgiving, just to get you in the mood to waste money.
All the bad moods and irritation because everybody is stressed out.
Vapid Christmas programs that can be about anything but Christ.
I say give the day back to the pagans and the churches should start over with a day meaningfully spent in prayer and praise.

Why should it bother me? Christmas has nothing to do with Christ. It never has and it never will. The origins of Christmas are pagan. The traditions are pagan. It continues today only because it is good for the big retailers. It seems like a waste of effort to continue celebrating this holiday that is as fake as the plastic trees and garish ornaments erected as a monument to greed and consumerism. Happy chrismahannakwanzaka or whatever.

“Xmas” is not originally an attempt to exclude Christ from Christmas, but uses an abbreviation of the Greek spelling of the word “Christ” with the “X” representing the Greek letter chi.
So I dont see where the disrespect comes into play at?!?!
besides not everyone that celebrates christmas is christian so that might be a reason for them calling it xmas instead.

I'm going to get a bunch of thumbs down but here goes....
Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ.
For many years, there has been a media push to take Christ out of Christmas. Many department stores tell there employees to say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" to avoid offending anyone in this politically correct world we live in today. Do they know (or care) that they are offending Christians in the process?
So yeah, it does bother me. I personally want Christ to be the main part of Christmas in my life.
I say to the A.C.L.U. and all who read this (yes both of you) today:
MERRY CHRISTMAS

It should not bother people at all when people say or write Xmas instead of Christmas. "X" is the greek letter "chi" which is the first letter of "Christ" in Greek.
Xmas is the same as Christmas

About as much as internet abbreviations do, r u thr? wtf? bcuz, etc etc no wonder nobody can spell very well!! I dont think its disrespectful especially when you send out 200 christmas cards I really dont think you would have the time to write "christmas" 200 times its easier to write Xmas and we all know what it stands for.
Besides why worry about an abbreviation when santa and the commercial world have taken over your religious holiday....LOL
and why dont you care about the missing S? isnt that disrespectful to the word mass???? LOL

NO! A lot of people know that Jesus was not born Dec 25th.
Christ is a title..."Messiah"...It was later in his life that title was given to him. At his baptism...John the Baptist herd Gods voice that said, "This is my son, the beloved, I approve of him."
He was around 30 yrs. old.
So instead of Christmas as it was started by the catholic hierarchy, Xmas is better for some.
Peace.....

I've never heard this verbalized. It is unfortunate, though, that so many don't know that a Latin X (eks) and a Greek X (chi) are written the same. One would think that when people learn their ABC's they could be exposed to the concept of the alphabet.
