Honestly I don't usually think highlights help but honey-ish or slightly lighter brown colored highlight are ok as are small amounts of highlights in most other colors. Light blonde is definitely not cool looking in my book even done well it still looks a bit like someone spilled paint.
The key for hair is to not put so much of a color that it becomes obvious it is not natural (the closer the color to natural the more your can put in without look fake). If you're trying to match up with the attractiveness of the tried and true "blonde girl" image guys admire you're really better off focusing on your figure and a healthy diet that keeps your skin smooth...it's a lot classier and at least equally attractive, if not much better.
Even if, by the new look, you want to make it obvious you're "on the market" it's better to wear something one-piece that shows off curves than something revealing...if you do something drastic, like blonde highlights or tons of make-up, words like "trashy" and "easy" come to mind.
Also, trust me, coming in without the accessories and "still" making guys look is going to make girls even more jealous because they can't just go out and buy the latest accessory and match your look. ;-)

I think so! Even if you do have dark brown hair, I think it's pretty.
My best freind had her hair dyed ash brown, then had the blonde highlights done, it looks incredible! The highlights werent platinum blonde or anything tho, they matched the ash very nicely.
I made the mistake of dying my brown hair, which had natural red highlights, jet black. I hated it and now I cant get rid of it. I have to wait for it to grow out, Lol.

It really depends on what shade of brown your hair is and what shade you want the blonde to be. There is a girl I know and she has dark brown hair and it is like to the middle of her back about and she put bright blonde highlighted streaks in her hair and it looks like she cut strands off of a blonde wig and attached them to her hair. It is terrible. light brown hair, with dark blonde or sandy blonde highlights - good. Dark brown with bright or normal blonde......bad. Dark with dark blonde - good. Light brown with dark blonde - good. About everything else is a no no.
Good luck. I hope it turns out okay....

It looks great and even better is if you already have some natural blonde highlights that the stylist can match the highlight color to. That is what I do and it looks natural and grows out nicely as well.

depends what kind of brunette you are. if its really dark then no. if its some what dark then not if its like bleach blonde highlights. if its like light brown with caramel blonde hair then it would look fine but make sure your hair dresser picks out the right color, they will know which color just by looking at your hair. don't do it yourself

depending on the hair - and color - you can get blonde highlights and it would look great - ask your professional which type of blonde they recommend - and if you have long curly hair you should get thick chuncky highlights. That usually lloks great!

Yes, I had them for years BUT didn't want to look fake or too extreme so I used a "caramel" toner. Tone's down the highlights so it looks more natural for darker hair.
Good Luck!
