I have sinus problems and use nasal spray on a regular basis. I know you shouldn't do that because of the rebound effect, but I was wondering if it actually causes any real damage

It disturbs the natural environment present in your nose, the one that helps filter out pollutants and clean the air. it is ultimately harmful and should only be used as an emergency measure in the case of a severe problem. These sprays are highly addictive and ruin the sensitive lining of your nasal passageway. Try to stop as soon as you can!

Dependency comes to mind. Faking out your system to a point where it is unable to EVER respond on its own. Let alone the loooong list of side effects that are all not only possible but very likely. You could also burn your nasal passages right through...

Go to the health food store, buy yourself a neti pot (like a teapot with a long snout) and some kosher salt (its much milder I've been told). Mix up a solution of warm water & salt and pour it into one nostril while forcing the flow out of the other nostril, hanging your head over the sink. Then switch sides & repeat. Do that & your sinus issues might just be history. Most of all, you won't be supporting the pharmaceutical industry, not feeding any dependencies, nor burning out your nose, sinuses or brain.

You're welcome.

My sister used nasal spray and then her whole left side of her body went numb and she had to go in for a MRI. It only happens when she uses the spray and then goes away within 3 or 4 hours. She tried a few months after the first time to see if that was the cause and it happened again.
