No, you don't need to lose weight. But if you want to focus on health and fitness ...
1. Eat three nutritious meals and three snacks everyday. Cut out junk food and fast food. You probably need about 1500 to 1800 calories a day. Many people make the mistake of not eating enough when they try to stay healthy or lose weight and then become discouraged.
2. Drink lots of water - at least 8 big glasses as day. Lots of water is essential. Stop drinking soda and other drinks with useless calories. Eat fresh fruit instead of fruit juices - the juices are very high in calories.
3. Begin a simple weight lifting program at home or at a gym. Ordinary household items (tins of soup, for example) can actually serve as weights for beginners. Buy yourself a good weight lifting book for women. Actually the "dummies" series of books has done a rather good one.
4. Walk, walk, walk. Buy yourself a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps a day.
5. Record everything you eat and all your exercise to make sure you have a good calorie deficit. Two of the sites I've included will help you do that. Basically buring more calories than you take in leads to weight loss. You need a deficit of 3500 calories to lose one pound.
6. If you drive, do less of it and park at the back of the parking lot instead of close to the door. Always use stairs - never the elevator or escalator.
7. A mini stepper is an easy piece to equipment to have at home and gives great results. I bought mine at a second hand store for $4. Even if you use it for a minute or two several times a day it can make a big difference.
I hope these thoughts help. Stay healthy, fit, and well. Best of luck.

Well you are on the borderline of getting ready for chunky. You can look great at 137 and it can be most peoples normal weight. It depends on your body style, and height,
The problem is as you get older ti wil be easier to [put weight on and harder to take weight off.
So the best thing is for you to commit to about 130/132 and try to stay in that range,
If you are really trim and tones at 137 than something happens and you have to stop exercising at that weight than it's going to climb a lot easier.
That's the problem is maintaining the 137 when it's your borderloine weight.
Good luck , we've all been there:):)

I wouldn't try to lose weight if I were you, I would just try to do some pilates and yoga and you would love the shape of your body...you may not lose weight but the pilates and yoga change your shape and your clothes will fit so much better, trust me!
I am 5 '5 as well and weigh considerably more than you (no telling!) but when I started a regimen with these two workout styles along with regular cardio and swimming, I love the way my clothes look now!

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

You may be a tad overweight, but nothing major. Maybe 120-125 is ideal, but you are doing just fine.
If you want to lose weight, eat 6-7 small meals each day and exercise regularly. Under no circumstances should you skip any meals. And hook up with a friend to motivate and encourage each other while exercising.

You don't sound skinny at 137 and 5'5 but your probably not fat either. Look at yourself in a full length mirror without clothes and ask yourself if you are happy with what you see and take it from there.

Probably not but you probably would benefit psychologically from getting in better shape. Most people who think they are a few pounds overweight are really just flabby (no muscles) and not really fat. Just start up on cardiovascular program and you will a whole lot better about yourself. **Remember to see a doctor before starting any exercise program.**
