If he still has a full diaper in the morning, he's not ready for nighttime potty training. It means that he's not naturally holding it at night yet. Once he starts waking up with dry diapers, you can leave off the diaper at night and put the potty by his bed. Explain that if he has to go, he can get out of bed at night and use it and then he can climb right back into bed. This is what we did with our son and he's completely potty trained and not yet 3.
Expect many accidents for the first while!
Best of luck!

Don't give him any fluids for at least 1 hour before bed. Have him go potty before he gets into bed and then from there, you will have to wake him up every 2 -3 hours to use the bathroom again. This is how I got my boys night trained. It's hard work and it sucks waking up every few hours but hopefully after a couple of nights of doing this, he will wake on his own to go to the bathroom. Also. Take away the diapers, that will hold him back the most. My oldest (4) had a fit when I did this but I explained to him that he was a big boy now and diapers were only for babies. Good Luck to you!!! Merry Christmas.
I wanted to add that you must be consistent on this or it wont work. He might cry, scream, throw a fit but you just have to be firm with him and tell him that there are no more diapers. Again. Good Luck.
