I have no health insurance at all and it would be of a cosmetic need. My teeth are a lil crooked and I just never got around to it and I think I want to get them sometime. Oh and what does it feel like too? Would those invisi ones work for crooked teeth or gaps or what?

It's in the thousands and it hurts when you first get them on and when you get them adjusted every 3-4 weeks. You can't eat as much and brushing your teeth is more difficult. Your teeth come out yellowish no matter how much you brush. I had braces for 4 years and brushed a lot and they came out yellow.

There is some really BAD information above about insurance coverage.

In the US, insurance for orthodontics is typically this: 50% of the cost up to a lifetime cap of between $750 and $2000. Read your plan. It does NOT matter if it is for cosmetic or other reasons. Some plans put an age maximum on ortho coverage, others do not. If you have an orthodontic benefit, it does not matter if it is Invisalign or traditional metal braces.

There is no way to purchase individual coverage for braces as it is an immediate loss to the insurance company. Most orthodontic offices or general dentists who do orthodontics offer payment plans. Since you're returning for regular adjustments, they know you'll pay.

Invisalign can work wonders. Only a qualified Invisalign dentist can tell you if your own case would work or not. Ask your friends and do lots of research before you decide on a provider.

The price actually varies depending on the area you live in and the amount of work to be done. A good figure would be from $3600 to $5000. Most dental insurances will pay from $1250 to $2000 but only if you are under 18 when the braces are put on. We live in a small town and the normal price for the full set is $3600 but in the next large town the same braces would run $5000. The invisiline braces don't really do l lot and are more expensive.

You can work out a payment plan with the orthodontist. the total cost for your braces would depend on several things, incl. how long you'll need to wear them. braces for one of my sons ended up being a little over $4000, spread out over several years. course it was totally worth it when i see him smiling today with perfectly aligned teeth! ;) it does hurt some when and after they adjust the braces cuz it's pulling the teeth into alignment little by little, but my son took advil and that helped. not sure about how the invisi braces work tho, sorry. those are new since both my sons had braces.

something funny they always loved doing is they each got the bands for their braces that glowed in the dark. they'd go upstairs and stand near the bathroom light for a few minutes, then flip the light off, my youngest son would flip the lights off downstairs, then we'd sit on the couch and watch my two other sons come down the stairs, grinning. thing is, in the dark, all you could see of them were these 'floating teeth', LMAO!! omg it was hilarious! we have videos of them doing that, and even at their ages now, it's by far their most favorite thing to do, watching that video when we all get together. ;)

Cost depends on amount of work to be done. Look at $1500 to $4000 for the orthodontics. In addition you will need cleanings and dental work done, perhaps some extractions and you will need cleanings every 3 to 6 months while they are on so figure those costs as well. Invislign is not used for overbite or corrections that take longer than 1 year to complete. The brackets are annoying and you will have pain when the adjustments are made.

I paid $5500 for the white (less visible) braces/ two year treatment. With Invisalign, you have to get a new mouthpiece every couple of weeks, and it doesn't align your bite like regular braces. Regular braces are uncomfortable when you first get them, but you get used to it. They are also more difficult to brush. My insurance, however, doesn't cover braces - I make a monthly payment.

braces can run you a couple thousand dollars... they only hurt at first, it feels like your teeth are being pulled together, but then you get used to them being on your teeth
