Hi In December churches and civic organizations are all franticly wrapping up all those charity gifts for kids, fixing bikes, etc. You can call around and probably find something like that... But if you are handy at all, a very wonderful thing to do might be to hang up a sign or get on a radio trading show and offer services to single parent families in a bind for things like firewood, home winterization stuff like weatherstripping or caulk or proper installation of heat tape... Minor repairs that people just do not know how to do for themselves, don't have the very basic tools to do, or cannot do with a bunch of small children participating. It can make the difference to some families between a warm home where the drains run, and the potty flushes, for the holidays (and the winter) and one that is a stress to live in. If you are able to do these small things, go out and improve some family's lives on your own.
