If her ex broke up with her, that means that there was a problem with the relationship. She should NOT phone him, unless if it's something really important or if they still want to continue on being friends.

No, she needs to get over him. He doesn't want a relationship with her. Calling him will only cause her more pain as he becomes upset and really tells her off.

Let him go, the longer you try to drag this out, the more rejected you will feel. Find someone that appreciates you no matter the circumstances.
