Europe is 220. If you bring your stuff, you will have to convert it all. It is difficult at best and things may still blow. My advice is just buy stuff there. It is not that expensive (Turkey is cheap compared to alot of countries) and you can always sell it when or if you leave,

Don't bother to import electrical items into Turkey. The voltage is different and you will have to pay an inordinate amount to customs when you bring them in to the country. You can replace items easily in Turkey which gives the added benefit of having a local guarantee/service agreement. Also be aware that video/dvd system is different too.

I have to agree. I have a horror story with my curling iron. I moved to Turkey from the US 3 years ago. Anyway, I brought my curling iron and other things from the US and used an adapter. I plugged in my curling iron one day and waited about 5 minutes. Then took a big chunk of hair and curled it up. After about 5 seconds, I found that I had burned my hair off....not nice at all.

Adapters will work for smaller appliances. Do not bring the TV, the system is different, it will not work. When I made the same move, I brought a 4,000 Watt "Step down" (down from 220V to 110V) transformer. But bear in mind transformers as such are very heavy. I suggest you sell your hairdryer, microwave, etc. (ww.craigslist.com) is great when it comes to selling small appliances as such, and buy them anew here.

As for electricity around the world, I suggest you check the link below. It is very useful. Good luck.

For electrical thing like microwave, hairdryer, etc, just buy new ones in turkey. Warranties and stuff, you know...
For electronic stuff like laprop chargers, phone chargers, etc, they already come with VOLTAGE ADAPTERS, so you only need PLUG ADAPTERS to convert N.American thin plug to round European plugs.

The voltage IS 220 by the way...

This should do it.

If you still want to bring stuff like kettles, etc., you also need power adapters:
