Sounds right to me. Jesus said that the rich can't get into heaven (Mt 19:24).
I saw a "service" at the oral roberts center in Tulsa one Sunday, the whole "sermon" was about how they wanted to get $100,000 from the people there. They took a collection 7 times!
When the evangelicals start preaching that war is un-Christian,then I will believe that they are trying to be sincere Christians, not before.

Of course there are some charlatans out there that prey on people's belief in God to make tons of money, But there are also those that are truly devout Christians who love the Lord and are spending their entire lives wining souls for Him. The thing is - being a follower of Jesus and being a follower of the dollar have nothing to do with one another. You can be a total lover of the Lord whether you have boatloads of money - or no money at all. And the reverse is just as true. You can be a rich heathen or a poor heathen if you choose to be. The money's not the issue. And believe you me, those that ARE lying through their teeth and calling on the Lord's name to fatten their pockets - they WILL pay the price. Don't be fooled for a minute into thinking He doesn't know exactly which ones are for real and which ones are hypocrits.

As some of the others have said: yes and no. The televangelists make money because (a) they're popular, (b) people believe them, (c) they're ignoring the scripture at Matthew 10: 8--you received free, give free. But, applying what he said to anyone in general, you don't have to "dump God" in order to make money. In fact, living by Bible principles makes you more honest, trustworthy, hard working; which can lead to steady employment and possibly a rise up the corporate ladder. But it MAY take longer that way than by ignoring the Bible. Unfortunately, in this world, you do better--moneywise--if you do ignore biblical principles when trying to make money. But in the long run it is not to your benefit.

Well, yes and no. Some televangelists just do it for the money, but some are real ministers that have passion, so much passion that they can connect to many different people, and they become famous. Muost televangelists today started out as pastors, and became popular. Back in the 70's it was the other way around. People would just start tv programs to make money. So in a sense, he is correct.

To put it simply from the sourse:
" 19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
23But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
24"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.
Matthew 6:19-24
How do you understand it?
p.s. (to previous reviewer) war is un-Christian.

Maybe there is a reward in this world for dumping God, but that is a good idea if only life in this material world is the only life there is. Often material things in this world take precedence as a priority. I have heard the expression quoted, which most people don't do, "Love people and use things," however it is much easier to love things and use people.

There are many who believe in God and are also wealthy. I would question whether the money you earn by dumping God is "good money". Some people feel as though the only way to be successful in business is to be able to lie and con people. I disagree - God is with us in success as well as failure.

Not true. They do well because they are doing what God has called them to do just what they are doing. There are always a couple that people like your dad will use a broad paintbrush on and say they are all the same. Beware of big general statements that imply ALL.

He's right!
The televangelists are registered 501(c)(3) State churches. They can only preach what the government has approved. They are not God's ministers.
He's not right about making money. If you honor God in all things, He will prosper you according to His will not yours. He may want you rich for a reason, or he may want you poor for a reason.
I'd rather be in God's will than rich by breaking his commands.
